In June, I served as research dramaturg for a two-week workshop of The Civilians' THE GREAT IMMENSITY.

During the workshop, I once again delved into the fascinating research and transcripts that make up the core of the play. I spent the weeks doing lots of fact-checking as well as plenty of timeline drafting. I also created an image wall, giving me the chance to cull through the company's collection of images from Barro Colorado Island and Churchill, Canada--the two locales at the center of the piece. The photos are breathtaking and inspiring; now all I want to do is travel to Panama and Arctic Canada (before the ice melts, that is!).

This was the last major developmental workshop before the play receives its world premiere production at Kansas City Rep next year.
